  • Transfers of personal data from the EU to the UK are not considered transfers of personal data to a third country BUT
  • UK needs to appoint a representative within the EU where Article 3(2) of the GDPR applies
  • End of the “one-stop shop” mechanism

End of the Specified Period?

  • Adoption of an adequacy decision OR
  • 4 months after the Specified Period begins + 2-month extension (01 July 2020) UNLESS
    • Objection from the EU or the UK
    • Amendments by the UK to its data protection legal framework permitted without the agreement of the EU to such change
